Why your role matters

As a Network Architect at i3D.net, you’ll help shape and run a truly global network infrastructure, spanning both ISP-scale backbone and cutting-edge datacenter environments. Unlike many teams where architecture is hands-off, you’ll be close to the tech and still hands-on, working directly with Juniper gear, automation tools like Ansible, and a monitoring stack that gives deep visibility into real-time traffic. You’ll be part of a 20-person network team, collaborating with engineers who take pride in building fast, reliable networks—and in staying sharp as technology evolves.

What you’ll be doing

  • Architecture & Design: Shape and build global backbone and datacenter networks with automation and scalability in mind.
  • Implementation: Lead deployment of network improvements using tools like Ansible, Python, and Netbox.
  • Technical Leadership: Support and mentor engineers, review designs, and promote best practices.
  • Customer Collaboration: Work directly with key customers to solve complex issues and provide expert guidance.
  • Monitoring & Capacity: Analyze traffic with tools like Kentik to plan capacity and spot potential issues early.
  • Documentation: Write and maintain clear network documentation and operational procedures.
  • Security: Help enforce network security policies and support our DDoS protection efforts.
  • Cross-Team Work: Collaborate with product and infrastructure teams to align network design with business needs.

Tech stack

At i3D.net, you’ll work with:
  • Hardware: Juniper MX, QFX, SRX, EX; legacy includes Mellanox, Cumulus, Brocade.

  • Automation: Ansible, Python, YAML.
  • Tooling & IntegrationNetboxKentik, REST APIs.
  • DCI: DWDM, Coherent Optics, metro connectivity.
  • Security: Custom DDoS mitigation, traffic filtering, and threat detection.

What success looks like in the first year

  • You’ve completed a major network upgrade or datacenter migration with minimal downtime.
  • You’ve contributed to a better automation framework that improves delivery speed or reliability.
  • You’re a trusted go-to for architectural input in datacenter and backbone projects.
  • Your ideas and improvements have been adopted by peers and documented for others to build on.
  • You’ve helped strengthen the team through knowledge sharing, mentoring, and hands-on support.

Your profile
  • Experience: 5+ years as a network designer or architect in ISP and/or datacenter environments, with a strong track record of delivering scalable solutions.
  • Network Expertise: Deep understanding of service provider protocols and architectures—BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, EVPN-VXLAN, MPLS, and L2/L3 VPNs.
  • Automation & Scripting: Proven experience automating networks using Ansible, Python, and YAML, including integrating with systems via REST APIs.
  • DCI Knowledge: Hands-on experience with datacenter interconnect solutions like DWDM, Coherent Optics, and metro connectivity products.
  • Troubleshooting: Expert in diagnosing complex network and hardware issues, from physical to protocol level.
  • Linux Proficiency: Comfortable in Linux environments and using it for network-related operations and tooling.
  • Broader Infrastructure Insight: Solid understanding of infrastructure domains such as storage, virtualization, and cloud computing.
